New Books to Explore

It's that exciting time again when we have hundreds of brand new books ready for you to explore! Come take a peek at our new chapter books, series, comics, picture books and information books. We have displays dotted around the library.

Some titles that are already disappearing off our shelves are the Charlie Joe Jackson series by Tom Greenwald, the new Survivors series by Erin Hunter and the 4 For 4 sport series by John Coy. ASD students are also excited about the National Geographic Weird But True books and as well as the Soccer Stars biographies. We can't forget to mention the long awaited episodes of The Familiars by Adam Jay Epstein, the new Goddess Girls books by Joan Holub, and brand new to our library, the Captain Awesome series by Stan Kirby.

Take a look at just some of our new titles below and see if anything catches your fancy!

READO Celebrations

This week, we recognized the students who participated in the READO Summer Reading Challenge. We were thrilled to have had 126 students' record sheets handed in!

The Elementary Library invited our students to participate in READO as a book bingo game that challenged students to engage in a variety of different reading experiences with all kinds of genres. Our goal was for students and families to have fun with reading over the summer.

Students were recognized at the first ES Assembly on September 1 and then Mr. Advento, Ms. Carly and I visited classrooms and grade level assemblies to present students with their certificates.

Congratulations to all our students for your achievements in reading this summer! Keep up all the great reading as we start our new school year! I have already had students ask me about what the next reading challenge will be...

Ready, set, READ!

We are back in full swing at the ES Library! We are happy to have students buzzing with excitement about learning and reading as we are now well into our new school year.

A few reminders about the library to help you get started on the right foot:

  • ES Library Hours: 7:30am - 4:00pm
  • Students are welcome to visit before or after school to check out books, read or work on homework.
  • We ask that students in K1-Grade 2 be accompanied by an adult before and after school.
  • Laptops and iPads are available for student use in the library to search for books or do homework.
  • We encourage parents to regularly bring students to check out more books! Don't wait until your library class day. Come as often as you can!
  • Remember, families can check out ten books at a time. And, don't forget you have access to thousands of ebooks from home through our ES Library website.
  • We are here to help. Please ask us for assistance and we will be more than happy to guide you with our resources and services.
We hope our students are enjoying some of our great new cozy spaces and seating areas. Please ask if you would like to use some of our smaller meeting and study rooms. If they are not booked, students and parents are welcome to use them.

Let's work together to make the library a shared learning space and resource that we can all enjoy.
